Police ID victim in Shelton mobile home fire

SHELTON — Police have identified the victim of a mobile home fire in Shelton Friday evening. The fire’s sole victim was 75-year-old Richard Kowalsky, said Shelton police spokesman Richard Bango. Assistant Chief Nick Verdicchio of the Shelton Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched around 6:50 p.m. to a fire of a home in the Fairchild Heights mobile home park on Hemlock Drive. “Upon arrival, crews found a fully-involved working structure fire,” Verdicchio said. “Bystanders on scene reported there was possibly somebody inside.” Verdicchio said firefighters attempted an interior attack but had to pull back to secure leaking propane tanks.
