Norwalk man arrested in Halloween assault of girlfriend

TRUMBULL - A 36-year-old Norwalk man has been arrested stemming from the violent assault of his girlfriend on Halloween night. Richard Salazar, of Richards Avenue, was arrested on a court warrant on charges of first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Lt. Douglas Smith said on Halloween, police met with the victim at a relative’s home in Trumbull. The victim told police that Salazar had been there earlier in the day. “The woman had visible cuts and bruises on her face and she told officers that she and Salazar were at home for Halloween and Salazar was drinking heavily,” Smith said in a release.
