MILFORD - A 25-year-old suspected shoplifter was found to be carrying an electronic stun gun when she was stopped by police at Macy’s on Saturday afternoon.
Leanie Hayes, of Edgewood Avenue in New Haven, is accused of taking approximately $200 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
When police went to the story around 4:30 p.m., security already had Hayes in custody.
Officer Joseph Dempsey said in a release that “further investigation showed Hayes to be in possession of an electronic stun gun.”
She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and criminal possession of an electronic control device.
She was released on a promise to appear in court on the day of Halloween.
